Pritam was coming back home after 2 long years. He was sent abroad by his parents to continue his higher education.
When he stepped his foot in the airport he could feel the vibes of his parents, relatives and friends waiting to welcome him. But at the same time he felt a void. He didn’t quite understand the feeling.
He shrugged off the feeling as he walked out. “Welcome Pritam!” everyone shouted in joy. Pritam was overwhelmed by their love for him. He greeted everyone gathered there.
After that everyone got into their respective cars and headed towards Pritam’s residence for lunch. It was a special one that day.
Everyone gathered for lunch. There was everything for everyone. The elders had started consuming alcohol as well.
Pritam couldn’t complete his lunch, he felt claustrophobic and excused himself from the table.
He was sure of the void he felt. It was embedded deep in his heart. He was no longer able to shrug it off. He quietly went out for a walk, alone.
While walking down the street he noticed a very familiar face, innocent and gentle. He tried to make out where he saw it before, but couldn’t.
He stared at her long enough for her to realise that she was being stared at.
He stared at her long enough to realise that she was Sajni, his beloved.
“Sajni!” he called out to her.
Sajni quickly turned and walked away as fast as she could.
“Sajni! Sajni! It’s me Pritam! Hello! Please wait!”
He ran and caught her by her arm.
She was startled and glared at him in anger “Who are you? What do you want?”
“Sajni, it’s me Pritam. How could you forget me?”
“I don’t know you and I don’t know any Pritam. Please get out of my way. I am in a hurry.”
Pritam let go of her arm and stood there watching her as she disappeared into a turning ahead.

I read part two first, they work well when read in either order. A really interesting tale, cleverly woven together. 🙂

Even I got confused where to place which part while editing. 😄
Glad it worked out well.

Also I chose the names of the main characters as Pritam and Sajni as both have the same meaning “Beloved”.
