Those waters…

This post is in response to :

The Wacky Weekend Challenge #1 : Water presented by ‘The Dark Netizen’ .

If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water. ~ Loren Eiseley

Sometimes it is the life giver whereas sometimes it can take lives.

Role of water as life giver:

Most of the early human civilisations settled in river banks where water was readily available for agriculture.

It quenched their thirst.

Moreover there’s a different planet to be found underneath the waters.

There’s life in the waters.

Role of water in taking lives:

Here I will recount a true episode of the Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami, 2004.

The waters gushed in as I held my daughter tightly against my chest with one arm and with the other the pillar of the hotel. The next thing I know is the waters receded and my arms were empty.

It took away my daughter from me.

~~ A foreign tourist who was staying at a hotel in South India at that time.

I am in dearth of words to conclude this post.

I shall leave it up to you to come to a conclusion.

But before I sign off I want to say : “Water doesn’t always bring joy”.

The Marina Beach in 2013. This was one of the areas that suffered heavily during the 2004 Tsunami.

Thank you for reading and have a great day ahead!

  1. These are the two sides of nature. It is true for all the bounties of nature which we take and not think about. Water or wind. Fire or earth. They can give and take from us too. Two sides of the same coin.
